Parks

Public Works is responsible for maintaining and managing the city parks and grounds surrounding other public facilities totaling more than 300 acres. They are responsible for maintenance and mowing of property, landscaping areas for new projects, as well as maintaining playground equipment and other structures in an effort to continually improve the parks system.

About Parsons Parks
Parsons has 16 parks including 10 picnic shelters, 10 playground areas, six basketball courts, 24 RV camping spots, and three restroom facilities.

The showpiece of the city's park system is Forest Park, a 15-acre park east of downtown and adjacent to Labette Community College. In 2008, the Seaton Family Pavilion was dedicated and this historic park plays host to many annual events including Katy Days, Earth Day, and the free summer Music in the Park concert series.
