The Parsons & Greater Labette County Tourism Bureau recently announced the publication of a regional Outdoor Recreation Guide. The brochure style guide will be utilized to effectively move visitors as they travel to the many outdoor activities found in the region.
The full color brochure-style publication features eleven sections with information on camping, hiking, fishing and a number of outdoor activities. The piece was printed at Sun Graphics with an original print run of 20,000 at a cost of approximately $2,700; however the Bureau received a $1,100 state grant to assist in printing costs of the inaugural edition.
Several avenues have been identified for distribution of the printed piece including outdoor and travels shows in Tulsa, Wichita and Topeka. It will also be distributed at the Kansas State Welcome Centers and through direct mail as a support piece for the official destination visitors guide, which is scheduled to be printed early next year.
"We are very proud of this brochure and are excited that we were able to hit a home run on our first at bat," said Parsons & Greater Labette County Tourism Bureau Director Jim Zaleski. This piece is just the first of an entire line of collateral publications that will be produced by the Bureau.
The next scheduled publication will be a regional guide to historical attractions and will be designed in much the same manner as the outdoor guide. Zaleski also added that the addition of the Public Information Officer position at the city allowed us to produce the piece entirely in-house and save on what would have been considerable layout and design costs.
The Tourism Department of Parsons and Greater Labette County promotes the economic development and growth of the hospitality industry fulfilling the role of sales, marketing and service organization for the region.
