A familiar face will step into the position of Interim Fire Chief for the Parsons Fire Department. Twenty-one year department veteran, Larry Steeby will take the reigns after the departure of Chief Tim Hay, who accepted a position in Utah earlier this month.
Steeby is no stranger to the leadership role. For the past seven years he has served as one of three Battalion Chiefs for the Parsons Fire Department. In addition, he is a hazardous materials technician, emergency medical technician, has completed Fire Officer I and II, and has attended the National Fire Academy twice.
He is a graduate of Friends University with a bachelor's degree in Organizational Management and Leadership, and earned his Associates Degree in Fire Science from Labette Community College.
