The name of the game for Entrepreneurs is "Passion." You've got to be passionate about starting your own business because you will work harder for yourself than anyone else. The hours are long, the work is tough AND the rewards are great!
 
Realizing the challenges of starting your own business, the City of Parsons has created a Business Incubator Center (The BIC Building). The BIC Building is located in Industrial Park No. 1 which is home to Babcock Manufacturing, Superior School Supply, Alexander Manufacturing, Signature Sportswear, and Ray Products.
 
To assist the Entrepreneurs in their efforts to start their own business we purchased a 60,000 sq. ft. building that has been divided into individual sections with both office space and manufacturing space. These spaces range from 3,000 sq. ft. to 18,000 sq. ft. Dock doors are available for easy on and off loading.
 
An Incentive Package specially designed for start-up businesses is available in the following form:

  1. First two months no charge for rent.
  2. Graduated rent increase after first two months. The increase would be structured as follows: 3rd month 20% of rent, 4th month 40% of rent, 5th month 60% of rent, 6th month 80% of rent, 7th through remainder of lease 100% of rent.
  3. $5,000 low interest loan for e-commerce based businesses to develop a website (maximum of five 10-year 1% interest loans available.)
  4. Rural Development low interest loans available (4.25% interest.) These loans require a 2 to 1 match of additional financing.
  5. Free high speed secure wireless Internet access.
  6. Loan pool available from local banks with the City buying down interest rate.
  7. Available inventory of office furniture for start-up businesses.
  8. Conference rooms available at no charge.
  9. Business counseling and business plan development assistance available.
  10. Access to fax, photocopier and computer available for low cost.
The City of Parsons also partners with the Small Business Development Center located on the PSU campus.  Counseling sessions are available locally in Parsons for your convenience. A business plan is required for all financing options either with local banks or from City Economic Development funds.
