Mathis retires from City

Mathis retirement

With more than 37 years under his belt as an employee with the City of Parsons, Dale Mathis is taking a long deserved retirement. “It was the first Monday in May 1978,” Mathis said, as he received a token of the City’s appreciation from City Manager, Debbie Lamb.

Starting as a part time employee, Mathis worked his way up in the utilities department through several positions including maintenance worker and equipment operator until being named Lake Caretaker in 1990 and eventually Lake Supervisor in 1995.

“Having worked for the City during part of the time Dale was there it was always nice to see his smiling face,” said Mayor Kevin Cruse. “The entire City wants to thank him for his years of service.”

With the new found time Mathis is planning on “doing some work around my shop and house for the next few months,” he said.
